The Alien Zoo, Malice Manor and Funky Laboratory are located at 10340 NE Weidler St Portland, OR 97220.
Follow the signs to the entrance of Escapism. You will be greeted by a member of our team and explained the rules. Within minutes, you and your team will be “locked” in your room, and given 60 minutes to escape (your booking is for the whole room – you will not be paired with another group). The room is yours to explore and investigate. Solve clues to unlock the next mystery, all in hopes to get the passcode to escape. If you get stuck, your team will be equipped with a radio to ask for clues from us.
While it is in a creepy and themed environment, it is not meant to scare. Nothing will pop out at you. The exception is Malice Manor, which is our haunted room.
1. No clues require force to be solved. While you are free to make a mess of the room, please take care not break anything or take anything out of the room.
2. Do not touch items marked with “Do not touch”. This will apply to stuff like electrical boxes, etc, that you don’t need to mess with.
3. Don’t eat, drink, or spill the clues. There will be liquids. Don’t drink them, they probably won’t hurt you but they will not taste good, we promise.
5. In case of emergency, you can exit immediately.
6. Keep the mystery alive! Tell your friends about us, but don’t give away all the clues! You can take pictures but try not to reveal the secrets in them.
It is definitely challenging! No math skills or other unusual abilities are needed however and we are always available to give out hints. Most teams need 1-5 hints or gentle pushes in the right direction throughout the hour.
We are open 10 am – 10 pm most days. Please book in advance as we are by appointment only. Bookings are made online and must be made at least 12 hours before your appointment time in most cases. Some last minute bookings (at least 3 hours out) may be available at the Ritual Room or Jungle Ransom, please select that room under booking to view its calendar.
Please show up 5 minutes early. We cannot let you inside earlier than that as we will be debriefing the previous group. Arriving late may cut into your playing time. If we have teams booked immediately after, any minutes late will cut into your time, since we must let them in at their allotted time. If you are going to be late, please call us at 503-389-3101 and we will let you know if this will effect your playing time. If you are over 30 minutes late, we reserve the right to cancel the appointment without refund.

The Ritual Room, Jungle Ransom, Funky Laboratory and Alien Zoo are not wheelchair accessible as they require walking up a full set of stairs. The Magician’s Menagerie has a stage that requires a 4″ step up and down but is otherwise accessible. The Wizard’s Lair has one (unsupported) 8″ step over required (difficult with a wheelchair). Malice Manor is down a half flight of stairs. All rooms contain usable chairs that guests may sit in at any time. Some of our rooms are lit with low levels of light. Please let us know if this will be an issue and we will gladly turn on full lighting for you. We can generally help accommodate hearing disabilities with enough notice. Our Magician’s Menagerie room contains strobe lights and may not be suitable for those with photo-sensitivity. Thank you!

Yes! Escapism Portland has always been all private bookings. When you book the room, you are booking the entire room for your group only, regardless of how many tickets you book. You make one booking for everyone at the price shown. The price per person varies based on how many players you have, with more players being cheaper.
Our prices vary depending on how many people in your group, with per person prices becoming cheaper as your group gets larger. Most prices are around $25-30 per person. This is for a private booking experience where you will never be paired with strangers. For exact prices, please select your room and number of participants on our booking page.
Yes! We welcome children under 18 with at least one adult 18+ in the room. We cannot make exceptions to the supervision rule as our insurance policy requires it. Children in strollers/carriers are welcome. Toddlers are allowed but must be watched closely by parents as our rooms are not “child proof.” Older children will be able to enjoy and help parents with the puzzles more. For birthday parties where the children outnumber adults, we recommend a minimum age of around 10 for the most fun.
All players over the age of 5 (children and adults) must have paid entry in order to enter the room.

Please choose the number of people in your party and the room you are booking for. You and your friends will be the only ones in the room.
